2025 “The Story of Chinese Cuisine” International Photography Competition Call for Papers
In order to better promote Chinese food culture, spread Chinese food stories, and enable more photographers to stand out on the international stage of commercial photography, the International Professional Photographers Association, together with the China Photographers Association, China Photographers Magazine, China National Imaging Magazine, China Executive Chef Association, China Executive Chef Magazine, and New Zealand Asia Pacific Visual Alliance, jointly organized the 2025 "The Story of Chinese Cuisine" International Photography Competition, which began soliciting submissions today.

This competition is hosted by the International Professional Photographers Association (IPPA), and all winning and selected works will be included in the IPPA points system. The award certificate will be issued by the President of IPPA, Lawrence Miller, and stamped with IPPA's seal. It is currently the most prestigious international food photography competition, showcasing the highest honor of award-winning photographers.
As an international professional photography competition in the Pan Asia Pacific region, the 2025 "Chinese Food Story" International Photography Competition is open to professional photographers and photography enthusiasts from all over the world for submissions. Huxiaotang Cultural Development (Zhengzhou) Co., Ltd. acts as an agent for China (including Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan) for submission. The organizers and agents of the competition have the right to cancel the eligibility of entries that do not comply with the competition rules.
Submission Content:
All photography works related to food, wine, coffee and tea, as well as related characters, vessels, and spatial environments (works that have won awards in previous China Commercial Photography Competitions are not eligible for submission), including AI creative works.
Submission Group:
★ Food category:
Contains all photography works related to food (highlighting the theme of food, including food raw materials and even production scenes).
★ Wine category:
Contains all photography works related to fine wine (with a focus on the theme of fine wine, including production and daily life scenes).
★ Coffee and Tea Group:
Contains all photography works related to coffee or tea (with a focus on coffee or tea themes, including production and daily life scenes).
★ Vessel group:
Includes all utensils and utensils related to food, wine, coffee, and tea (including food packaging) photography works (with a focus on utensils and food packaging).
★ Food Portrait Group:
Contains all portrait photography works related to food, wine, coffee, and tea (with a focus on portraits such as executive chefs, chefs, restaurant servers, sommeliers, tea artists, baristas, and their life and work scenes).
★ Food Environment Group:
Includes all environmental photography works related to food, wine, coffee, and tea (with a focus on the environment, including restaurants, cafes, tea rooms, and architectural spaces).
★ AI Creative Group:
AI creative works that include the above six sets of content can be AI creative works combined with photography subjects, or pure AI creative works.
Submission requirements:
1. Each photographer is allowed to submit no more than twenty works per group, and can submit multiple or even all groups at the same time.
2. Only JPG format images are accepted, with each image being no less than 5M and no more than 20M.
3. Allow moderate and reasonable digital post production (including non AI and fully AI creative production).
4. The contributor shall ensure that they are the author of the submitted work and have independent, complete, clear, and undisputed copyright over both the whole and parts of the work.
5. Authors should also ensure that the works they submit do not infringe upon the legitimate rights and interests of third parties, including copyright, portrait rights, reputation rights, privacy rights, etc. The contributor shall bear all legal consequences and responsibilities arising from their manuscript and submission behavior.
6. For works and behaviors that may disrupt public order and good customs (including but not limited to situations that may seriously mislead public awareness, have fraudulent nature, and violate relevant laws, social morality, public order, and good customs), once discovered, the eligibility to participate will be immediately cancelled, the award certificate will be revoked, and the entire network will be notified.
7. Please add the photographer's name, personal profile, contact information, and personal image photo in a separate document (docx. file) for submission. Label the submission group and the name of the work. The submitted work shall not have signatures, watermarks, borders, or any content unrelated to photography. The author shall keep the source file of the work and own EXIF data.

Honorary Awards
Seven winners of the IPPA Chairman Award will be awarded throughout the competition (those who score the highest points in each category and exceed 90 points will be determined by the final judges if their scores are tied). They will receive the IPPA Chairman Award Medal, Certificate, and a cash prize of HKD 2000 (pre tax).
The photographer whose work has won the IPPA Chairman's Award will receive the International Culinary Photography Master Certificate and Medal issued by Lawrence Miller, President of the International Professional Photographers Association.

All winners will receive the International Professional Photographers Association IPPA medal (ribbon) and award certificate. The certificate is marked with the score, ranking, and IPPA points record of this competition. If you accumulate 8 points, you can apply to join the International Professional Photographers Association and become a member of IPPA.
Participation fee:
The organizer of this competition charges a submission fee
Within two groups: HKD 300 (approximately RMB 275)
Two or more groups will receive an additional HKD 100 (approximately RMB 92) per group
The submission agency Huxiaotang Cultural Development (Zhengzhou) Co., Ltd. charges an additional agency service fee of 150 RMB per photographer.
Submission deadline:
The submission period is 90 days from November 15, 2024 to February 15, 2025.
intellectual property right
Submitting is deemed to authorize the sponsor to use the submitted works for the publicity and reporting activities related to the competition. The sponsor (including the co organizer, the organizer and the agency) has the right to use the selected works by signing their names during the duration of the copyright of the submitted works in the form of reproduction, distribution, exhibition, screening, Internet transmission, compilation, etc., without paying any remuneration. The organizer promises not to use the entries for commercial applications. If there are any related commercial applications, they need to negotiate with the photographer to share commercial benefits.
